2020 - Resilient Urban Systems - ES3202

 

  • Analysing the different subsystems (social, ecological, technological) of East Coast and identifying the type of resilience with focus on (resilience of what, to what, for whom, where, and why)

  • Assessing a set of important ecosystem services provided by natural infrastructure

  • Interpreting results to propose future recommendations to enhance resilience

In the Resilient Urban Systems course (ES3202, Asian School of the Environment), students work in a group to assess the resilience of Singapore’s East Coast neighbourhood. The project involves:

In 2020, students benefitted from the experience of urban systems experts at the

Centre for Liveable Cities. Students formed three groups with a focus on:

1) Urban Cooling and Flood Risk Mitigation by street trees

2) Food Resilience in the face of Climate Change

3) Rain Gardens for Resilient Shophouses

URBAN COOLING AND FLOOD RISK MITIGATION
